Basic question about prostatitis and diet

I may have (what I would consider a mild case of) prostatitis.  I
suspect it may actually be a kidney infection instead.

Either way I have been told to avoid spicy foods.

Can anyone tell me what other effects this should have on my diet?
Also, a more specific idea of what constitutes spicy foods would be nice
- are there specific spices I should avoid entirely, are there some that
are okay in moderation?  My normal diet has a lot of garlic, basil and
hot peppers in it; I assume the latter are Right Out but what about the
other two?  Oregono?  Parsley flakes?  I just want an idea of how to
adjust my cooking for the next few weeks.

Jeff,

Why don't you try posting in

alt.cooking-chat
alt.creative-cook
alt.creative-cooking
japan.cooking
rec.food.cooking
rec.food.veg.cooking

or one of the many groups under "food"?

Because my question is about the medical condition that this group is
supposedly for, and I've seen doctors that may have the medical
knowledge to answer it post here.

As you would know if you had read it.

Do you have something useful to say, or are you just here to be rude to
people who are trying to find out how to stay healthy with their
conditions?

If you can't take a joke then f.ck ya - hahahahaha !

You wanted to know if anyone was here - yes.

Your question contained the following words and phrases:

spicy foods
specific spices
garlic
basil
hot peppers
Oregono
Parsley flakes
adjust my cooking.

It just kind of struck me funny, like that guy yesterday with the huge list of ailments.  I know I
shouldn't laugh at peoples misfortunes, but Jesus - what a list !

I believe in that you are what you eat theory, but your diet looks a bit affected and dopey to me.

Sorry, eh?

Try laughing at yourself once in a while - it's great medecine.

That would be better advice if your "joke" had been funny.

I think Oldbie has good intentions, Jeff.  I believe he was trying to help.
Don't sweat it. In the past, he jumped all over me....lol....when I first
responded to some of his comments trying to help, but it turned out to be a
silly misunderstanding. Anyhow, it's all good. Let's not get distracted
fella's. Let's put the blame on this wretched ailment when any
misunderstanding's present themselves.

Regards.

There is nothing funny about oldpee.  He is a big jerk, just read that crap
and see why.

At least I can get you to crawl out of your hole and say something once in a while, hahahahaha.

Interesting!  I might try selectively eliminating some stuff from my
diet and see if it helps.

Still doesn't really answer my original question, though.  (But it opens
up another avenue of investigation, which could turn out to be more
important.)

Let me try an even more basic version of the original question - was my
doctor FOS when he told me to stay away from spicy foods?  Does anyone
know anything about a connection between that and prostatitis?  I
haven't found anything about that on any of the sites I have been
checking, like prostatitis.org or the one you just referred me to, and
you would think something like that would be mentioned there!  I think
he screwed up, frankly, but before I chow down on my favorite high-
octane chili I want some sort of confirmation of that.

Assuming this doctor *did* know what he was talking about, the original
question remains - which foods should I avoid, specifically?  I would
have deserved Oldbie's ribbing a lot more if "spicy foods" were a clear
and unambiguous term, but I swear I don't know two people who agree on
what it means!!!

There are a lot of doctors who are FOS, Jeff. No confusion there. Well, with
a comment like that, I have to be fair and state there are some doctors, (
some who post here ), that are genuinely interested in our condition and in
helping us. But, that is not what your asking about....hehe....this is very
anecdotal and simplistic Jeff, but there are some men diagnosed with chronic
prostititis, (chronic pelvic pain syndrome), who may actually have IC,
(Interstitial Cystitis). IC is a painful bladder and pelvic pain disorder.
Is it possible that your spicy food intake is irritating your bladder? Maybe
you have an element of IC?

Regards.
