Hey guys, I hope you can help me....
I'm a 19 year old male. For the past few weeks I have been suffering from
frequent urination, and various pains that pop up at different times. I'm
urinating anywhere from 10-18 times a day. It's obviously a major disruption
on my life with work, school and commuting.
As far as the urination, its usually not a lot, and it's often difficult to
initiate the flow. I often feel severe discomfort in my bladder area before
I have to go and sometimes after.
As for other symptions... I've experienced some pain during ejaculation, and
have also noticed that my semen is more yellow than usual. I get pains that
pop up every now and then in my testicles, down my leg, on my sides and very
infrequently in my lower back. The other day I felt as if I had a fever and
was experiencing chills. This only happened on one occasion for about an
hour.
I currently only engage in unprotected oral sex with a monogamous partner. I
have never had vaginal sex.
I have seen a urologist. My urine came back normal. He did a testicular
exam as well as a bladder sonogram. Today I had a kidney sonogram done
because stones run in my family. I won't have the results for another few
weeks. I feel that the doctor is not doing much. He wants to "put off" a
test of my semen for another month, which I don't get.
But anyway I hope I'm not leaving out anything important. Any help I can get
would be great. I'm desperate. Thanks.

It's great that you have seen a urologist. My first guess was a Urinary
Tract Infection but it appears that it is something else. Did the uro.
check you for other infections including tests for various types of
Sexually Transmitted Disorders? If not, ask for those tests. My other
guesses would be a bladder infection or stones. Since stones run in your
family--that would be the most likely cause of your problem. I should note
that I am not a doctor but have worked in a hospital. If a doctor responds
to your post, trust his or her guesses more than my guesses.

Jason-
Can you elaborate on why you would guess STD/stones/bladder infection?
I have similair symptoms. What would you say are some of the
differences between bladder and urinary/prostatitis?

Your best course of action would to be to visit the Medline Plus website
and do a search on those terms that you mentioned in your post. You may
also want to do google searches on those terms. Your doctor should be able
to easily determine
the source of the infection.
