Fat Bodies in semen???

I've posted here from time to time on my case. Have had prostatitis
for 8 years now.
I have pelvic pain as well as sharp pains in my prostate.(Exactly
where the largest calcifications are.)
My condition hasn't gotten any better the past 4 years or so, just
thought it was because of the percoset I take for a back injury.(tends
to mask the pelvic pain.)
My largest complaint/concern now is the state of my ejaculate. The
volume is of course greatly reduced(about half of what it used to be.)
and the clumping is getting much worse. When the clumping started it
was small round/ovoid jelly like clumps in a clear or grey scummmy
fluid.
Noe the clumps are much larger and harder and are getting
stringy.(long strands ranging in length from an inch to nearly six
inches.)
The color has gotten better, getting closer to the white it used to
be.
I cycle on and off ABX's to deal with the other symptoms( burning on
urination and in my prostate etc...) mostly doxycycline 250mg tid for
several days usually one a month.
Anyone have any idea as to what's causing the clumping/stringy problem
with the ejaculate?
I do drink lots of water and avoid ALL irritants to the prostate.
Also what can I do to treat this?

Harry,

My best guess - having looked into the matter of semen variation - is that
your prostate is reacting to an attack or perceived attack (autoimmune
reaction)

I had the same thing you have, much lower volume and weird changes in my
prostate fluid, which makes up the bulk of your semen

I suggest you have your testosterone level checked and have a semen analysis
done. There is some chance that your sperm are being killed off when they reach
the prostate. There is also a chance that your semen is very alkaline.

I am over my prostatitis and my semen is returning to normal. I also had a
semen analysis done and everything is now in normal range and I have no
problems with my fertility.

I suggest you try Bactrim it works well.
A two month course of Dexamethasone, a rather powerful steroid, stopped my
prostatitis in its tracks (by the way I am not recommending this as a therapy
just reporting my own experience)

As I said I had the weird ejeculations including pure hot alkaline (salty)
watery muck ejeculations.

I assumed I was sterile, I am not.
I assumed that my prostate was damaged beyond repair and that blurps of salty
gray muck is all that I would produce for the rest of my life.

It has taken about three years for my semen to get back to normal (although
volume is still an issue) If and when your prostatis "burns out" look for your
semen to change for the better.

When you blow your nose your body produces snot to wash the airway. Right now
your prostate is spewing out it's own form of snot - fighting against bacteria,
that may or may not be there. This is the simplest way to explain what is going
on.

Prosta-Q = Snake oil !!!!

How'd you actually know it was "salty"?

Just out of curiosity. How many mg of Dexamethasone a day did you use?

Two .7 mg tabs a day every third day. I sarted off with to .7 mg tabs one a
week.

I've thought the same thing about the prostate in regards to it's
similarity to the sinuses and other glands.
I've been convinced that I've had a systemic infection for years
now.(I was diagnosed with TB back in 94 and was treated with a six
month course of INH.)
I've been chronically fatigued ever since and don't believe I've ever
gotten ridd of the TB.(I have lung congestion with broncitis and lots
of mucus.) I think it's just gone deep into my organs and colonized
there.
I've developed allergies to most of the ABX's that are effective
against bacterial prostatitis.(I started on Bactrim in 96 and after a
couple of regiemens of it I developed an extreme allergic reaction,
Stevens-Johnson syndrome.)
I took Cipro off and on for 3-4 years until it no longer worked and
nearly destroyed my tendons.
I tried Cefexine and all I got was the trots, so it was back to
Doxycycline with an occasional cycle of Levaquin.(It works only as
long as I'm on it.)
I was diagnosed sterile many years so that's no suprise to me.(I've
been married three times over the past 30 years and never had any luck
at children, that's what prompted me to get checked out back in the
eighties.)
I never had any problem with sexual function, in fact like my father
was always very much over sexed. He was married to a women 33 years
younger than he was and was sexually active right up to his death.
I always thought I would do likewise.
As my doctors tell me, not everything is genetic.
If you remember my earlier posts I do have other conditions that might
be playing a part with some of my symptoms.
I currently have neuropathies in both arms and legs from back injuries
that I incurred during my service years.(Extreme pain in my lower
back, glutes, pevis and legs as well as a condition similar to carpal
tunnel in both arms.)
I take alot of percoset and it tends to mask the pelvic pain and
urinary pain/burning. When I start to feel those symptoms over the
pain killers is when I know to start another ABX cycle.
Right now I'm stuck using the VA for my treatment. They rate somewhere
below the countries worst HMO.
In the 8 years I've been going to the uro clinic there they've only
taken urine samples(couldn't milk any prostate fluid out, dry
inflamed) and won't run tests on any sematic fluid I'd be willing to
submit.)
If I can arrange my budget in the next month or so I'm going to find a
lab that'll run tests on my sematic fluid.
I did have my test levels checked and while lower that it used to be
is still in the normal range.(whatever that means)
I enjoyed a really high serum testosterone for most of my life, genes
I guess. But it has dropped about 12 percent in the past 10 or so
years.( I used to do iron man competition when I was in my twenties
and used to have multiphasic test run 3-4 times a year. body chemistry
and keeping it in balance is critical for edge athletics.)
All that ended when I had an accident with multiple back injuries and
several broken bones and a crushed foot.
after my recovery I stayed in weight lifting to fight off the effects
of the trauma. Had to stop several years back after I developed
osteoarthritis and ostheopourosis.
I've gotten my bone density problem under control now and am wanting
to get back in the gym.(strenuous exercise is good therapy for most of
the problems of aging.)
I'm not familiar with that particular steroid. Is it a corticosteroid
or an anabolic?
I'm supposed to start getting corticosteroid injections in my back in
October for inflamation and pain control.
I'm trying to find someone here who might have similar conditions to
mine.(prostatitis  with back injuries etc...)
I've heard from many who say that their prostate actually causes lower
back pain, I wonder if mine might be aggravated by my prostate or the
reverse.

ive got the same thing lumps and the long string very pllugged up
feeling when i ejectulate . i used to shoot a mile now very week . one
other thing if this is bacteria why would a steroid work there immune
surpresers which would usely make an infection worse ive taken predisone
for my rheumitoid arthritis but i do think its some type of autoimmune
reaction since i already have one
niceshyguymiami - 14 Sep 2003 07:41 GMT
Well now that my friend is the trick. You need to be on antibiotics to make
sure that you do not have an infection.

Steroids can screw you up. Some people have to take them to stay alive. Jerry
Lewis is a good example. Have you seen what the steroids have done to Jerry?

I think that doctors know that steroids are effective for this condition (at
least in certain cases like mine). They are afraid of the side effects.

As I said in my previous post my prostatitis went away when I increased the
dose I was taking of Decadron (Dexamathesone).

A week or so later after my prostatitis pain went away. I suffered a horrible
reaction to Levaquin - after taking just one
additional tablet.

The reaction to Levaquin was a classic reaction reported by others. I dont know
if my taking the steroid a week prior made my reaction worse.

I am confident that the steroid made my prostatitis go away. There are dangers
in its use, but I believe that steroids do work, at least they did in my case.
