Ugghle...I thought I was pretty specific in my previous answer (which you
snipped). Did you read what I wrote. Was your urinalysis the simple
dipstick test I referred to (which is just a barometer), or did you have a
culture done or what, and what do you mean it was done for a urologist (were
you in the uro's office or what - and if so what did he say). I described
the three kinds of cultures previously...Pete

BTW if you had an acute infection , I am sure you would know it (fever,
severe pain and malaise), but not necessarily. I feel like sh.t most of the
time, which I mainly attribute to a seriously chronic condition which I call
prostatitis/urethritis/cystitis (current studies indicate that all three may
be part of a continuum, so to speak). I have been through hell with the
uro's with no help. If your doctor (either primary or uro) even considers
it possible that you may have infectious prostatitis (without microbial data
to back it up), he will no doubt try you on a blind trial of antibiotics.
A uro should have at least given you a prostate massage and looked under the
microscope for WBC's/pus/bacteria. Most uro's will put you on anti's even
if they just see WBC's, but not pus or bacteria. I would think an acute
infection would produce some pus/bacteria in addition to the WBC's. Please
let us know what your uro has said (as I previously requested).
I hope this helps answer your question, but you really haven't told us what
your problems are, not that we are doctor's and can diagnose you. I have
been studying this sh.t for 15 years now along with my other maladies (which
interact with my groin problems). Back in 1997, this group used to be very
active and informative (with doctor participation), but is kind of dying
now, which is a shame.
Please let us know what your uro has said...Pete

The uro and I were discussing a spike in my PSA readings, the
urinanalysis was not a dip stick, it shows WBC as 1, RBC as 0, Mucous
as many, Urine culture not indicated, culture not performed. I asked
the uro about Cipro, he said there's no infection so why do it. Just
trying to find out why the PSA spike. MRS scheduled for Jan 6.
Synmptoms were aching in groin, tired, low stream flow, now a PSA
spike. Don't mean to "snip " anything just replying.

Ugghle...a couple things about ng etiquette. You should not simply reply
and expect everyone to go backtracking through the thread to see what was
said previously. Snipping should be for lengthy threads only. You should
at least (as a minimum) include the last post (or a piece of it) so everyone
doesn't have to backtrack for reference.
And you really ought to use spellcheck. I spent some time responding to you
in three separate posts, and I don't get a warm feeling of any kind of
appreciation. So be it. Good luck with whatever your problem is...Pete
