Hi,
I'm in search of advice, so I hope it's relevant to the Group. If not,
any suggestions about another Group would be much appreciated.
For many years I have had poor sleep owing to a frequent need to get up
and pee. Sometimes 4/5 times. Most occasions not much pissing happens.
But there's more to it. What really affects my sleep is the 'piss hard'
associated with it. Without fail, I get one every time. I lie there for
ages tossing and turning with this non-sexual hard until I have to get
up and pee. My body thinks my bladder is full. But it isn't. So I pee a
little and then get into bed and so the cycle repeats each night.
Without fail. I can't remember a night when I didn't have these
symptoms and had a decent nights sleep. I've seen many
doctors/urologists. I've had my prostate felt many times and there's no
enlargement. PSA testing doesn't throw anything up. I've been in for
observation on sleep patterns and had invesigations such as tubes up my
prick and flow tests. I've tried various drugs.
I'm dispairing of a nights sleep.
I searched the net and found prostatitis. It may not be what I have,
but I'm hoping that someone here has heard of my symptoms or can make
suggestions about where I can look to find out more. Any help would be
gratefully received.
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,
I have the same problem as you and have been told that I have an
'overactive bladder'.
I recommend you to use Google and search 'overactive bladder' ;you can
later add 'bladder irritants'. I think you will find all the
information you need.

hi paul - you didn't give your age. it's possible that you could have a
BPH condition that's not causing the bladder to empty completely and
holds back some urine, hence, the filling up quickly pattern.
not saying that is what it is, but it is a possibility.

Paul,
I second that consideration. Not every prostate enlargment can be
felt, rather some dont expand outward but instead expand inward
thus squeezing the urethra that goes through it. Only a cystoscope
can determine the real situation.

I'm 71..
I had been suffering a combo non-specific lower back/bladder/??? area pain
until just last few days for several weeks.
My solution below may or may not work for you, but it seems to have
alleviated my problem getting a "decent nights sleep", and got me back to
once/nite piss call, (knock on wood)..
1. drink 3 large draft beers 4-5 hours before bedtime, (to alleviate
bladder reacting to acid in foods, supplements, etc.)
(at least every other day).. I had mostly given up my draft beers a
month ago and suspect that action brought on my "attack"
2. take 2 ibuprofen in the morning and 12 hrs later before bedtime, take 3.
3. exercise your lower back, methinks backs are the culprit in a lot of
non-specific lower abdomen pains.
optionally
4. take 25mg/day dhea to restore morning erections (if you miss that
youthful bodily function)..
let us know if your sleep problem goes away and why if known..
at the present I am not taking any ibuprofen just my draft beer (miller
lite) at least every other day.
