Why do you find it bad that the moderator weeds out promotions for the Tuscon Clinic, a clinic of a well-known quack?

It isn't only quacks and spam and offensive material that is weeded out.
Why you would let someone tell you what you can and cannot read in a prostatitis list is beyond me.
jrh - 29 Apr 2005 22:12 GMT <clip>
> Why do you find it bad that the moderator weeds out > promotions for the Tuscon Clinic, > a clinic of a well-known quack? If charging for treatment that fails is quackery, then everyone who charges CP-CPPS patients is a quack.
Massage Treatment as offered by Tuscon, may be an essential part of a suscessful CP=CPPS treatment, it's failures prove it is not the only part. The Mayo Clinic's offering was more expensive and deceptive, but clinics can charge for treatment that does not work. Why single out Tuscon? Ignorance makes a poor foundation for the exclusion of ideas. Bull sh.t posts are easy to skip, it is impossable to read the ones excluded.

Some places tend to disallow posting from people they don't like and there has been rumour of a certain prostatitis list doing that.
Here, you can choose to ignore what you don't want to read. There, you don't know something that may be useful was even posted.
Hi There - 28 Apr 2005 15:16 GMT >>>>>> I find that this newsgroup is dead. only trolls and jokers >>>>>> left here. the best place for advice is [quoted text clipped - 20 lines] > Here, you can choose to ignore what you don't want to read. There, > you don't know something that may be useful was even posted. LOL! Do you know that this newsgroup is partly censored? Many people who post here do so through the list at Maelstrom http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/p-atitis.html
That list is harshly censored by the Prostatitis Foundation, who exclude anyone they do not like. I've sen whole threads removed because they were mentioned or because someone they did not like posted. True!
You see, your lack of knowledge has led you to misspeak. :-)
Do you realize that posts made here are archived by Google in an anonymous way (Google munges email addresses to hide them), BUT these posts are /also/ archived forever on the Internet at St John's in a non-anonymous way, without your permission, by the Prostatitis Foundation? Think about that.
Gut-Buster - 29 Apr 2005 02:29 GMT >>>>>>> I find that this newsgroup is dead. only trolls and jokers >>>>>>> left here. the best place for advice is [quoted text clipped - 24 lines] > post here do so through the list at Maelstrom > http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/p-atitis.html LOL do you know that isnt possible and that it is an unmoderated newsgroup on Usenet????
Did you know that maelstrom often doesnt repost what people have posted because the people there dont like certain posters?
No-one censors this newsgroup but if you choose to be told what you can and cant read, that's up to you. I prefer to come into the newsgroup, read what I want and ignore the rest.
Hi There - 29 Apr 2005 09:12 GMT >>>>>>>> I find that this newsgroup is dead. only trolls and >>>>>>>> jokers left here. the best place for advice is [quoted text clipped - 35 lines] > can and cant read, that's up to you. I prefer to come into the > newsgroup, read what I want and ignore the rest. The maelstrom list has something like 400 subscribers, so most readers access this newsgroup through that list, a list which is heavily censored. You with me now? That means that although you post to the uncensored Usenet group, most people don't.
This group is dying, anyway. Just look back over the last few weeks ... almost no posts. Just a sudden flurry lately because I posted here. LOL! A whole lot of losers (*cough!* gutbuster *cough*) must be checking this group every day hoping that someone with half a brain posts something they can answer. OMFG it's too funny, man!

Wait, "Gut-Buster" ... I remember you! you're the Australia fellow with a huge chip on his shoulder, right? You're the one whose doctors refused to treat him because of his bad attitude, right? You're the one who reported that the system is against him and everyone's an idiot, if I remember your themes correctly. Do you still believe your conspiracy theories about the medical profession, Mr Crazy?
Nothing about you has improved over the years, clearly. Pity.

Most are people looking for help, the answer usually says: Try this, try that, no one knows for sure, and good luck.

Let me talk a little bit about cure. Cure implies that you have a problem that a treatment simply eradicates. I do not think that the successful resolution of chronic pelvic pain syndromes means that they can never flare up. There was a time when sitting when I was out to dinner or at movie was agonizing, and driving my car even a little way, required that I sit inclined on one buttock. With gratitude, I sit here comfortably writing this letter without any pain. I do not however describe myself as being cured. I do relaxation every day and do my best to live a life in which I am not swept up in anxiety and a type A lifestyle. I believe that if I stopped doing relaxation, and went back to an unconscious, burning the candle at both ends lifestyle, which is my predilection, my pain would probably return. If I did have a flare-up, however, I would not consider it a bad thing or a failure but simply a wake up call to do what I needed to do to return to balance without symptoms.
In my view, sooner or later most people have their version of chronic pelvic pain syndrome, be it irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, anxiety disorder, low back pain, non-cardiac chest pain, headache, temperomandibular disorder or hypertension. The body is fragile. Different bodies respond to age and stress at different sites in the body. People with the kind of pelvic pain we treat happen to be pelvic responders. The point, in my view, is to understand how to live a life that quiets down or eliminates the symptoms. For a certain group of people with pelvic pain of the kind that we successfully treat, I believe there may be no permanent cure, only daily treatment of becoming inwardly quiet that keeps one essentially symptom free. The point is to be able to effectively deal with the tendency to tighten up the pelvis so that it does not interfere with your life and happiness.
Sincerely,
David Wise, Ph.D. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I know it is posible to manage symptoms better, but is the causes of CP-CPPS really known?
This is nothing new, years ago many Doctors insisted the problem was tension and prescribed Valium, a more comfortable chair, and new ways of sitting. I am sure many are grateful for help figuring out ways to deal with it, or supress the symptoms, but what needs to be known is what causes it, so the damage can be stopped and others can be prevented from getting it. Unfortunately the economic incentive is for treatment not cure because a cured patient is no longer a customer.

Hi There - 02 May 2005 05:14 GMT > SPAMMER BULLSHIT BELOW: BEWARE THIS SPAMMER! Just FYI, everyone, Gut-Buster's real name is Greg Hope (lives in Sydney, Australia). He used to post as "gregh" and bored us all with the many sob stories and exaggerated tales of sickness (clearly hypochondria). He also had us laughing with his futile attempts to get taxpayers to support him. An example:
" ... the doctors I saw (specialists, all) called me a hypochondriac and actually SAID to me that I don't have ANYTHING AT ALL wrong with me even though I gave them proof of CP, Sleep Apnea, Graves Disease, CFS, IBS. Why did I bother going back again knowing all that? Simply because in Australia, with all that confirmed to be wrong with me with medical evidence to support it, you cant get Govt assistance and can starve in the gutters. You have to have a "popular" health problem to get Govt assistance here. ... I am a PC repairer and thus internet and computers are a tax deduction. ... I am literally "sick to death" of doctors. I am sick, they wont help .." etc etc
