About three years ago, I went to an emergency room, for a discharge
from my penis. This was a thick, cloudy discharge that would occur
sometimes at the end of urinating, or sometimes just on it's own. The
doctor asked me if I'd been having unprotected sex, and I told him yes,
but I hadn't had sex since almost a year. He looked at me like I was
lying, and asked "are you sure?" which I replied yes, I'm sure. (I was
telling the truth, and felt very angry and at the same time
embarrassed, that he didn't believe me.I'm not proud of it, but I lead
a rather dull sex life) Anyhow, he took a swab and inserted it into my
penis and said he was going to run a few tests. He came back in about
20 minutes and said I had a urethral infection, handed me a few
different antibiotics and a cup of water, and said that should do the
trick. He said they were going to run some further tests, and would
call me if anything was positive. They never called me. Well, the
discharge went away, then came back like a year and a half later for a
day or two, then disappeared again. But now, three years since my
emergency room visit, I am experiencing pain in both testicles,
sometimes just one, sometimes both, and sometimes the pain runs up my
sides almost to the level of where my ribcage starts. I am also
experiencing the "split stream" when urinating sometimes, and
occasionally the "dribbling". Sometimes I have to stop working because
I feel like a have to urinate really bad, but barely any will come out.
I have also noticed on some days , I will sweat profusely, after barely
doing a little physical work. I also sometimes just feel downright
run-down and tired, like I have a flu, then it will go away. I'm scared
that I may have a venereal disease that was never properly treated. Can
someone give me their advice or thoughts on what this is? A little more
info..I am a 31 year old white male. And in this period of time, I have
only had casual sex with one other woman, since the other 3 years ago,
and that's not been for about 10 months, now. This problem is beginning
to interfere with my work, and daily life. Thanks.

Go see a urologist. You say he gave you some antibiotics. How long did you
take them? Did he do a culture and identify the bacteria? Prostate
infections are notoriously difficult to eradicate. You can take antibiotics
for 30 days (the usual recommended course) and things will settle down but
don't be surprised if it comes back a few months later. And if you have VD,
you should still see a urologist.
