My uro thinks I have prostatitis although urine tests show nothing.

Basically I have difficulty urinating although tests are showing virtually
no retention (10 ml). I am also having some discomfort, burning, etc.

I do have BPH, but things suddenly got worse and hence he thinks it is
prostat.

He has prescribed 30 days of Keflex (he prefers bactrim or levaquin but I
can't take those).

I hate to take antibiotics!!

Anyone else have experience with this?

(I bet everyone else on this board has, but I'd appreciate any
comments/input)

The urologist I recently saw, but will never again, also put me on
Keflex after Batrim gave me stomach and testicle pains (which he
originally prescribed). I did a 10 day run of Keflex, which did nothing
for my BPH.

Since he did a digital exam massage of my prostate, and a fluid sample
showed no signs of infection, prescribing antibiotics was a foolish
waste of my time. It seems like there's a lot of bad or just lazy
urologists out there who only know one thing - antibiotics.

If you have non bacterial prostatitis or BPH, antibiotics might give
you temporary anti inflamatory effect, but they won't cure you. After
being on cipro, zithromax, doxycycline, batrim, rociphen injections and
keflex in the last 5 months, I'm still having symtoms. In conclusion,
I'm giving antibiotics a rest and trying a new urologist.

probably won't do any good to switch uro's.
after all they all went to the same school.
have you tried amytriptyline and oxycodone or both
at the same time?
worked wonders for me
