Is prostate removal a viable option?

I'm frustrated by the daily pain that I'm experiencing, and I refuse to
accept that I have to "live with it."  At 29 years old, I don't feel like I
have to deal with searing prostate pain, lower back pain, and urinary
difficulties.  I'm still comitted to giving the drugs a chance, but I'm
looking into surgical options as well.  The TURP seems to be the "gold
standard" although it's way too invasive.  I'm looking at the Greenlight PVP
(www.laserscope.com) and wondered if anyone else had experience with
prostate surgery.

You wouldn't want to do it. Some men are incontinent after removal. If you
want to risk that instead of the pain, at 29, then I hope it works out OK
for you.

I have had this pain so long I don't think I would be the same without it. I
take pain killers when it gets bad and Saw Palmetto in strong doses every
day which helps enormously. Hope that maybe you can try that before going to
the extent you are thinking about.
