I have been suffering for six months from what my urologist told me was
prostatitis. After no luck with Bactrim and Cipro, he precribed me
Clidinium (generic for Librax), which is usually helps with Irritable
Bowel syndrome. I went to a different urologist yesterday and he said
that it may not be a prostate problem at all, but a colo-rectal
problem. He gave me some Flomax anyway to see if it helped, but he also
mentioned some other illness or disorder that could cause my symptoms
(I wish I could remember the name of it), one that is located in rectal
system instead of the prostate. He also mentioned that I should
probably have an abdominal CAT scan done.

Has anyone been told anything like this? Have any of you had a scan of
the colon/rectum and found anything?

What were your symtoms?

Have you had a colonoscopy?

I've been having constant discomfort around the rectal area, worse when
I sit and lie down. The comfort came soon after having a urinary tract
infection, so there seemed to be a connection. Occasionally, the UTI
symptoms would return.

Not yet. I will talk to my urologist soon about the tests I may have to
take. I suppose that I may have to go to a different kind of specialist
if it is a non-urinary or prostate problem.
