Huck: If you doctor has ruled out the more serious infections, then it
sounds like you have a urinary infection. I would increase my fluids big
time so you can urinate more, despite the discomfort. I'd suggest you see
you doctor and be sure he/she understands your symptoms. Anti-biotics
likely will cure that. If it is stubborn then you may need to be on
anti-biotics for many months. But you may need to address the source of
the bacteria, too. Your partner may need to take the anti-biotics as well,
if your foctor says so. Also, I found that applying some Polysporin to the
tip and trying to massage it a bit inwards into the urinary channel has
helped me. I also found an interesting site that I refer to for my own
pusposes: you might want to check out
http://bph-prostate-enlarged.blogspot.com/ and in particular the posting
there at the very bottom "Prostatitis--do I have it?" Particularly,
possible sources of infection. From what you are saying I don't think you
have prostatitis, but I'd be careful that the bacteria doesn't work its way
into the blood stream and eventually into the prostate. If you don't think
your doctor has done enough, you might want to get a second opinion. I
hope you get the problem fixed soon . All the best to you.
