Happens now and then and is a knife's edge pain for anything up to 5 mins
that totally incapacitates me then is gone. Always in the prostate. Doesn't
have to be because I need to crap or pee but sometimes coincides with that.

Playing charades here with that pain.

Sounds like.......? Anyone?

Sounds like ... I dunno. Could be prostatitis. Could be something else.
Get it checked out.

I have same thing except pain is not sharp. Anyone else? Are these classic
prostatitis symptoms?

Your diet could possibly be causing it. I'm convinced there should be
studies based on the effect sugar and fat have on the prostate. I had the
same pain you described, and, determined that it was my diet causing it. I
subsequently laid off on the sweets and fats(cheescake, bars, anything
deep-fried) and, presto,it went away. Have you examined your diet to see if
a similar thing may be causing the pain? Sometimes the body is telling you
something but we ignore it and hope for "a cure". Hope this is helpful

For how long did you have the pain before it went away.

It wasn't always there, just seemed to be related to high sugar/fat intake.
I could bring it on today but I choose not to, obviously. The episodes
started about 15 yrs ago about 5-10 sec each 10 min apart for about an hour.
If all pain was as easy to control it would be great
