I was diagnosed with prostatitis about 3 months ago I took antibiotics
for 3 weeks the pain in my prostate went away but half way through the
treatment I started to sweat/ have a damp scrotum and penis. It is
always damp. I have tried using desonex and gold bond. The dampness
went away a little bit. But it also seems to me that my whole groin
region is cold. The sweating went away for about a week then came back
with furious vengence. I am going insane, and I am becoming really
depressed, my thoughts are about nothing happy like i am going to die.
If the sweating went away my life would be 100 percent better. Some
other things that hurt are my lower back and the inside of my groin.
It is like a deep pain. Please help, I dont know if I can deat with
this much longer. Any information would be helpful. Is this at all any
of the symptoms that others are getting.

Thanks,
JD

Sweating seems to be part of this condition especially night sweats.

Unfortunalty three weeks of antibiotics is not enough. Three months of
antibiotics may not be enough. You should ask for Bactrim. Take the full dose
for about two weeks see if it helps. If it helps taper off to half the dose per
day.

Taking a half dose of antibiotics is important in the long run since there are
some serious side effects from some antibiotics. In the long run half the dose
of Bactrim or Cipro or whatever else you want to take is sufficient. (stay away
from Levaquin)

Hot baths and antibiotics seems to be the only weapons available. You might
also try self prostate massage and you need to
ejeculate once a day. Nothing more can be done - it is just an unfortunate fact
of life.

You're right!  Three weeks of antibiotic treatment is insufficient.  Some
people have had good results with Bactrim, but if a month's course with this
doesn't work, you may have to switch to Cipro.  Levaquin is a last-resort
weapon. Very powerful, but it can produce nasty and bizzare side effects. In my
case, I  suffered extreme depression. Not good. I think some doctors are
handing out Levaquin like it was candy. There ought to be a greater
appreciation in the medical profession concerning the side effects of various
drugs.

Hi, shy guy:

I want to know what good will daily ejaculation do to the chronic
prostattics? I thought this will
cause more pain in that area and downgrade body's immune system, right?

In my understanding, I go on some light jog 2 hours after take antibiotics,
I thought this will help
the medicine to infiltrate through the barrier into prostate, am I doing the
right thing?

I took Cipro for 5 days, then switch to Zinnat for 3 weeks. My symptom is
heavy in rectum
for a few years and a sudden onset of severe pain in the genital root.

Shy guy could u share any experience in dealing with this damned disease?

Thanks.
Andy.
