I have suffered from this f...... disease for 4 years now, and it is
really hard to enjoy life while having this sh.t.
The thing is I am not sure what kind of prostatitis I am having.
Some years ago I surely had a bacterial infection which was relieved
by loads of abx but now I am batteling impotence, weak ejaculations
with less volume and urinary frequency. However the thing is that if I
ejaculate 3 times a day my frequency is almost normal the day after
and the erections are a little bit better too, and if dont ejaculate
the frequency, erections problems and minor discomfort is back within
days. However I dont have any pain like you most of the other
sufferers have. I had mild back pain in the beginning and some
testicle pain but that is gone now. But the sexual problems and
frequency still bothers me alot. By the way I am 26 years old.
I also had a hormonal analysis whicg turned out to be ok so I surely
has something to do with the prostate which is obvioulsy not working
as it should. Does this sound familiar to someone??

All too familar to me. The symptom that brought me into the urologist
office was the difficulty maintaining an erection. Iam 26 also and was
diagnosed with prostatitis due to a boggy prostate on one side 5 months
ago. Been bouncing around from urologist to urologist trying to find one
that will reasure me that my impotence is due to prostatitis. The only
answer I get is that the erection process is a complex thing that
involves many factors. So, its pretty much a waiting process to see if I
can get rid of the prostatitis to see if that's the cause or not. So
far, its not cooperating with me. Was on Cipro the first 2 months and
then Bextra for a month after that and now on doxycycline for the last 2
months. Still no improvement. Ruinning my life also. Lost the g/f when
it first happened. Guess I wasn't charming enough to convince her to be
celebrate. For completeness my symptoms also include back and
preinium(sp?) discomfort, occasional frequency problems and reduced
ejaculation volume and intensity. These symptoms pale in comparison to
the impotence. High testosterone level so that's not the problem.
Really, if the impotence went away the other symptoms would not bother
me one bit. Anyway, been lurking on this group for awhile but this is my
first post. Keep me posted if you find something that works. I'll try
just about anything.

I'm much older, but I also have painless but severe prostate problems. No
way to know if you have a similar problem to mine, but there are two tests
that will be very revealing: a transrectal ultrasound and a penile
sensitivity test. The two underlying causes to look at are ejaculatory
duct obstruction (EDO) and compression of the pudendal nerve. The
obstruction can be caused by calcified stones; what causes the stones is
very controversial. Urologists don't seem to agree on whether the cause is
or is not bacterial.

So if a person finds something with these two tests Paul, is there
anything that can be done? Also, how commonly do these two tests show
something?

chances are you dont have prostatitis.

It can be a psychological thing, when you start digging into this
stuff too much it can get to you.

I am going through something similar. Frequency can have something to
do with the fact that all your urine is not getting out because of a)
prostate b) tight muscles in the pelvic area.
I think b) is the answer.

I have CP. I have many other problems, the most recent being heart problems
diagnosed.
Life is what it is. Some days you don't enjoy it and some you do.
While battling with your CP, don't let it get you down. There WILL be times
you feel like chucking in the towel but just sit still in the middle of it
and let it pass over and beyond you. Eventually you get out the other side.
I have never found a magic cure but I recognise depression. I just don't
fight it or pay attention to it any longer. I let it come and do it's thing
while I get on with my day. I have enough mental capacity to let it have
it's own corner until it exhausts itself and move on. Try doing that, too.
