When you said you had ibs for 38 years I'm assuming you mean Irritable Bowel syndrome? Well you can have ibs and not have prostate/bladder problems. This I know for a fact as I've had ibs since my early teens and never had the least bit of a problem with my prostate all those years. I do believe ibs can have an affect on the symptoms of prostatitis. But then so can inflammed pylesor colitis. Doesn't mean that's the root problem. Bacteria CAN be a cause of prostatitis and is for many. I know this also to be fact as that's what's causes my prostate/bladder flareups.
