There is blood (bright red) in the semen. Doctor treated with antibotics for 2
weeks but no improvement. Doctor stated prostatitis. PSA is good. What is
the actual cause of prostatitis - yes, I know bacteria. But this is an
internal organ. One brochure stated it could be a sexually transmitted. How?
Any further information would be appreciated.

It would help if you gave us a bit more detail inregards to your
symptoms. i.e is the blood constant or intermittant etc...
I've had blood in mine but only after a DRE or during a course of some
of the meds I'd taken to try and treat the problem.
I believe the bacteria can be transmitted sexually in spite of all the
opions to the contrary. Convinced that's how I got my intitial
infection.(My uro's stated emphatically that female partners couldn't
give me a bacterial/fungal infection in my prostate. I think they're
full of crap on that one.)
What type of ABx did you take?
Also 2 weeks is seldom enough to see any lasting response.

Most of the time when people get blood in their semen, a cause can not be
found. It is probably fair to go see your doctor if you have this, but I do
not get worried about it until it goes on for 3 months or so. It does not
have to be caused by prostatitis, STD or any bad thing.

Get it checked out by another doctor. The digital rectal exam and PSA exam
are not 100% foolproof. You can have both turn up negative and still have
cancer. However, if your doctor wont get off HIS arse to check YOUR arse, he
doesn't deserve your money. Would you take that sh.t from a mechanic if you
knew your car was leaking oil?
