I have had prostatitis for about 4 years now and it comes and goes.
Its mostly gone though. Last time it manifested, I also had
urethritis. I tested negative for STD's. Now, just like 3 months
later, I think it is coming back...again with urethritis. How common
is urethritis with the onset of prostatitis symptoms? What could be
causing this...if not an STD?

Trichomonas vaginalis, "Trich," is not usually considered an STD, primarily
because few men, percentage-wise, are affected by it in spite of its being a
very common flora in the vagina.
But some of us are prone to it. The symptoms are very much like prostatitis
except that there usually a urethral discharge; ejaculation can be very
painful.
You might have your doctor check you out for that. It is detectable on
microscopic examination of prostate fluid. My doctor let me look at some
that I was harboring. Ugly little critters and stubborn to eradicate but
you can be rid of them.

I have no idea. I think it might be due to inflammation, and the rate
at which you ejaculate. when i do not ejaculate that often, then i am
fine, but when i do often, the following few days i get a little clear
fluid out of my urethra after urination.
still tryn to get rid of it.
