can weight affect prostate?

I'm 22 years old, and I intermittently have a couple of symptoms of an
enlarged prostate. I have gone to the doctor, and he said that my prostate
is of normal size. Occasionally I get the urge to urinate, and when I do I
have a rather low pressure stream, and only about 5 seconds worth a urine
comes out. It's not a really strong urge or anything though. It never wakes
me up at night, or anything dramatic like that. Also, sometimes after I
ejaculate, or every once in a great whilke at a random time, I get a very
dull ache in my prostate. It usually doesn't last too long, though.

My question is, since these things are so intermittent, does it indicate a
problem? Also, could weight have something to do with it? I'm a rather big
guy at 290 lbs. If any of you have intelligent input, I would love to hear
it.

It's guesswork at this point? See a nice urologist who will listen and try
and help.

You could also try something really simple and safe for the next month if
you like too? Drink lot's of good quality water, ( like eight 8oz. glasses
per day ), and take 6 raw garlic cloves per day as well, ( dice up the
cloves and swallow without chewing ), for the next month. Three garlic
cloves in the morning & three garlic cloves before bed. This will help flush
out your system and of course the garlic has many wonderful health benefits.
See how you feel after the month is over?

and

In regards to weight? Maybe it is stressing your lower vertebrae and
something is out of line? Do you slouch? Losing some pounds couldn't hurt
and visiting a chiropracter for an adjustment might be an option?

I met this really kewl chiropracter and spoke with him for about an hour
recently. This guy was better than half the urologists I have
met.....lol.....no lies......if you find a good one, you might be surprised
by the options and therapy they can provide for you.

That's all pretty safe and some thing's to consider. Sorry can't be of more
help to you.

That sounds like a decent plan. Here's another thing... does caffinee affect
the prostate?  I know it can irritate the bladder and urethra, but how about
the prostate? I drink a lot of caffinated soda.

The jury is out whether or not caffeine effects symptoms as some say it does
and other's say it doesn't? One thing though is that drinking a "lot" of
soda cannot be that healthy. It does dehydrate you and the aluminum cans
they package soda in has been scrutinized in regards to the suspected
leaking of metals into the drink. You should probably cut down significantly
or eliminate drinking soda all together.

My uneducated opinion.

Regards.

Of course. Hasn't your uro told you to get off all caffeine?
Next to cocoa and chocolate it's one of the most toxic things you can
subject your prostate to.
In my youth I noticed that anytime I'd eat any chocolate before sex
that my orgasms tended to be more intense. Little did I realize that
it was just my prostate trying to rid itself of the poison.
Sinse I've gotten on a restricted diet I can really tell the
difference. the occasional lapse I have when I eat something with
chocolate or caffeine I have prostate and bladder pains for days.

I have been suffering from chronic abacterial prostatitis for about three
years and have been wondering the same thing as Jason.  Is weight a factor?
I am 6 ft tall and  about 227 lbs.  I suffer from a slight case of dunlop's
disease ( my belly dun lopped over my belt). Carrying extra weight in the
abdominal area, and being a little overweight can't be good for prostatitis.
Could some of the readers of this ng weigh in on this too?

I've always wondered if the unconscious tightening and tensing of the
stomach muscles in an effort to keep one's belly in, might aggravate and/or
contribute to pelvic muscle dysfunction? Maybe it's better to just let your
belly hang out guys instead of always tightening it and holding it in? Do a
quick test on yourself. Are you tensing your stomach muscles now without
even knowing it?

You got to admit, letting it all hang out would be a great incentive to lose
some of those pounds.....hehe
