I have had a very mild urethritis for the last few months with
occasional prostatitis symptoms too, and I have gone to the doctor
about it several times. He didn't really do any tests (other than
checking my prostate which was normal), he just gave me some
antibiotics and told me to come back if I was still having problems.
Doxycycline and Cipro didn't help, so he said that the only things
left that those wouldn't cure are either a yeast infection or
trichomoniasis. He gave me a prescription for metronidazole, 10 days,
500mg 4 times a day. From reading on the net it seems like a heavy
dosage. I'm about halfway through, and it seems like it has helped a
lot, so it looks like I may have had trich.
I have seen a lot of horror stories while reading on here about people
that have taken one drug which works for a while, only to have their
infection come back later. I've also read one article about how
metronidazole has a hard time hitting trich that is in your prostate.
My main question is this... If I do have trich, will this most likely
take care of it? I ignored it for a while, so it has had plenty of
time to work its way into my system. Will metronidazole be able to
flush trich out of my prostate too, if it indeed is there? I'm just a
little paranoid and anxious to get rid of it, and I'm looking for some
peace of mind. Has anyone here had any experiences?

Hi Rob,
I was wondering what your symptoms were or are? I think i may have
urethritis too. I had slight burning on urination and now I have a
slight discharge, clear one, i think its prostate fluid??? I am going
to start Doxy tomorrow.
