I've been on Cipro for eight days due to prostatitis. I'm due for major surgery
the end of next week, but the surgeon might postpone it, pending the result of
a blood test to determine if I still have an infection. My question is, does
prostatits show up as an infection in a blood test?

I can't imagine that it does unless it is very widespread. If it did,
uros could just give patients blood work to determine whether
prostatitis is bacterial or not. I was never offered such a test. I
think this test is probably a general WBC count that would indicate
whether or not your body has any generalized infections.

There the bloodtest would in invalid.
WBC could be rose for a number of reason, prostititas only being one of
them.
Most doctors based their decision on the patients symptoms and a physical
examination.
The only sure test would be a cystoscopy....sounds nice eh!@
