Hi everyone,
I am new to this, and I would like to hear some advice.
For a month now, I was feeling on and off symptoms of burning on
urination. I thought it was in my head at first. Then I asked my
doctor, and he said I might be dehydrated and to take in more water
and avoid spicy food. Still i was feeling a burning sensation during
urination, in the urethra. I took a blood test and a urine test and
neither showed any bacteria or white blood cells. Then he recommended
an IVP, and i just got it today. Well bad news. I have a kink in what
seems to be my ureteropelvic juncture what the doc calls "dubious"
significance. The IVP showed that the outline of my bladder was
normal, "except for a slight extrinsic pressure at its inferior aspect
by what appreas to be a slightly enlarged prostate. In a male of this
age, prostatitis rather than hypertrophy is to be considered."
There you have it. I am devasted by this. How will they fix the minor
kink??? Surgery? Is fixing it necessary?? How bout the prostattis, all
i feel is the somewhat burning urination which for the most part has
disappeared.
What should i do???
Thanks,
Makaveli

The only one who should give you medical advice is your doctor, but it
really seems that you are over-reacting to the Xray report. If your
urologist says the kink appearance is not significant, it isn't
especially since you have no symptoms that could be related to a
kidney blockage. The IVP is probably the worst test out there for
assessing prostate size (unles the prostate is the size of an orange).
Dude, chill and talk to your doctor about this.

Thanks buddy.
I am some what nervous. I dont have any family history of this. The
only symptom I have is the burning on urination. That is somewhat
disappearing.
However now with this "slightly enlarged prostate" its making me feel
really down. Don't know how I could of got it. One thing i commonly do
is hold in my urine too long, and I heard that can cause an bladder
infection or UTI which can then infect the prostate. Im only 24.
Please respond.

Makaveli,
I am the same age as you and have near to or the exact same problem.
It's a bit scary isn't it? Young but not invincible. I never thought
much of it for likely over a year and recently discovered what the
"disease" is all about. I'm no doctor but it's good to stick with
others in the same situation.
Learn about it...and live it man. All we can do. Good luck
