My prostatitis was cured after two month treatment with
Dexamathesone -Decadrone, which is one of the stronger oral steroids around.
Since this NG reaches out world wide and since oral corticosteroids are cheap
and in some places easy to obtain, I would like to hear some comments from
anyone who has tried them.
Steroids of course have nasty side effects, but in my case the Dexamathesone
stopped my prostatitis symptoms in it's tracks.
If anyone out there wants to try this form of treatment, they should be aware
of the risks. They should also have taken an assortment of antibiotics and be
on a wide spectrum antibiotic while taking the steroid.
I can tell you first hand that the treatment does work - all symptoms stopped
and in my case they never came back. If you have had any experience with
steroids for this condition please share your comments.

OBJECTIVE: To report on a small group of patients with chronic abacterial
prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome treated with oral corticosteroids in
order to suggest a hypothesis for a future randomised controlled trial. DESIGN:
A retrospective, observational report. RESULTS: Three out of the four patients
reported improvement in symptoms following steroid treatment.
CONCLUSIONS: These reports suggest that there is scope for conducting a
randomised, placebo controlled study to investigate the role of oral
corticosteroids in patients with chronic abacterial prostatitis/chronic pelvic
pain syndrome who have failed on conventional therapy.

How many mg per day did you use?

two .7mg tabs or 1.4mg
I took them once a week for three weeks
then twice a week
then for the last two weeks three times a week.
I was on them for two months.
You should not take it on a daily basis. Bed time is the best time to take
them.
It may be safer and more effective to take a larger dose once or twice a week
than to take a small dose on a continuos basis.
This worked for me - however, there are risks involved.
