Broccoli Recipe: Juicing vs. Boiling??

Hello all,

I too occasionally deal with PBH and/or prostatitis.  Having read through
this group's postings I saw numerous threads with regards to the "Broccoli
Recipe".  Can anyone here definitively state the mechanism by which this
works?  I ask for two reasons.  First, I know that heating any vegetable
above 118 degrees F will kill/denature the enzymes provided by that
vegetable - of course, I prefer to get these enzymes.  Second, I have read
that the compound sulforaphane (derived from broccoli) is one of the few
natural compounds found to be effective in killing the bacterium h.pylori
(the ulcer causing bacterium).  This has also been found to be a potent
anti-oxidant and anti-carcinogen.  So, I'm wondering if sulforaphane is
killing infectious agents resulting in prostatis or if perhaps some other
mechanism is simply providing an anti-inflammatory effect, or what-not....
I'm also wondering if you MUST boil the broccoli to get this effect, or is
simply juicing it (the overall healthier option) OK?

Any feedback anyone may be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Trip

Trip,

I think all the success stories of broccoli broth are hogwash.  I
tried the treatment for one month and all it did for me was give me
gas and diarrhea
