I have been diagnosed with CP in 96/97. It seems that every time I
have unprotected sex with a new partner my CP flares up. Recently it
happened again and being sick of the whole ordeal I wanted my doc to
test me for STD's. He said there was no need because of the following:

1) Last time of any intercourse was middle of Aug 03 (Got CP feeling
pain)
2) Put of Levaquin for 10 days at end of Aug 03
3) After finishing Levaquin run, pain still there, went back on
Levaquin 10 days later for another 10 days.
(So 10 Days on 10 Days off and 10 Days on Levaquin)
4) Had no STD symptoms
5) About a week ago put me on a 6 week run of Doxycyclene for my CP
(trying something different).

Since I have not had symptoms of STD's and no intercourse since Aug,
and also the fact that I have 2 runs of Levaquin he said I was fine
and I should not be worried. (From what I read Doxy kills most nasties
also).

Reason all this came up is that new GF wants to have intercourse and I
want to be sure that it is just my CP flaring and not and STD's. (That
would NOT be a good start.>:)

So I believe the doctor is correct..anyone disagree? Just looking for
other opinions.....(I hate me CP :(

Bacterial prostatis is NOT and STD. It is caused by E-coli (mainly). 10 days of
Levaquin may not have killed the infection in your prostate and Doxycycline
really does NOTHING.

I would ask for a two week trial of Bactrim. Stay on the antibiotic for the two
weeks see what that does.
