I don't know if I have prostatitis or bph or whatever, but I have had
recurrent bouts of urinary tract infection for years.
I'm a 50-year-old male who has had recurrent bladder infections since
college. Last January, after a few years of relative freedom from
symptoms, they returned big time, with burning bladder and scant
urination. Urinalysis confirmed infection and blood. Dr. prescribed
antibiotics.
Yesterday when I went to urinate, about half way through, I felt a
very sharp, stinging pain. I had to stop the stream. When I restarted,
it hurt and the flow was reduced. I then felt a stinging/burning
sensation between my scrotum and anus that got worse when I sat. It
felt like I was sitting on shards of glass. I had a similar episode
when I was taking the antibiotics in January.
Then, this morning, after drinking water, I urinated and half way
through I felt the same sharp sting, but this time it felt like
something came out and then the urine flow returned to normal and I
could sit in comfort again.
Does this sound like I passed a stone? I didn't see anything in the
toilet and the urine otherwise looked normal. I did not have any
typical symptoms of kidney stones.

Yes, but stones don't show up in cat scans unless they are huge.
Urologists don't like to admit they are wrong, and they are wrong plenty.
