Hello All,

A doc I interviewed today mentioned that the amount of PcCells present
in the biopsy cores is not factored into the nomogram score of the
Parten tables but should
be. Perhaps he was just painting a rosy picture in my particular case.
It seems like it should be a reasonable part of the success rate. Have
you heard of this or does it seem valid to you? In my biopsy, 2 out of
10 cores were positive with "only"  2 millimeter and  3 millimeter
PcCell samples present. Which begs another question: how long are the
cores? The other numbers are 5.79 PSA, 4+3=7 and 4=4=8 Gleesons.

Thanks,

There are several nomograms (Kattan, Narayan, Bluestein) and papers
that use / discuss variables other than those used in the Partin
tables.  Percent positive cores, percent GS4, tumor volume, ratio of
positive core length to total core length, etc. are generally accepted
as having prognostic value...Best wishes and good health, Ron
