I've never heard of this being a symptom of prostate cancer but
obviously I am a bit concerned (and will be seeing a doctor about it
soon).

I have been getting odd 'vibrations' underneath the surface of the skin
where my prostate is.  Not major, just enough to make me notice it and
it lasts for a while.  Then it will go and return several hours later,
etc.

At first it felt like I had my cell phone in my front pocket and I was
receiving a call with it on 'vibrate'.   I don't carry my phone there
normally, but I have and when it first happened that is what I
immediately thought of.  Of course, I don't carry it there anymore but
it does 'feel' like that.

Is this something to be overly worried about or most likely just
something else?

I am not a physician, but it doesn't sound anything like prostate
cancer.  Most likely a small muscle going into spasm or some sort of
nerve irritation in your spine.  It is probably wise to have a doctor
check you out, but not because there is  any special reason to believe
you have prostate cancer.
