Most likely, you are having a bout of prostatitis. This can happen
without any other symptoms. But a biopsy can miss prostate cancer.
The likelihood of that is relatively low, and will generally depend on
how many samples are taken. You should try to find a urologist who
specializes in doing biopsies on difficult cases. There are also some
other techniques such as "Doppler ultrasound" which can help find cancer
in some circumstances.
Keep in mind, that if it is cancer, which more likely than not, it
isn't, you have caught is quite early, and it is probably curable.
In the future, you might direct your inquiries to
alt.support.cancer.prostate. That is where most men (and their
partners) who have prostate cancer post.
