I am a 22 year old male and noticed Yesterday that my urine was a
pink/red color. There is no pain when I'm urinating or any other time
really. I have been mastubating more than usual and probably a little
to much for the last few weeks. The reason for this is because I
recently went off the Antidepressant Zolft and my sexual urge has
increased since then. Can masturbating cause a pink/red color in the
urine? I thought maybe it could damage something so that blood could
get in the urine but I don't think that's what it is. It's had the
pink/red color in it almost everytime I have urinated since yesterday.
I drank 2 big glasses of water today and the blood wasn't in my urine
after that but it's started again. I do have some fatigue that I have
felt for awhile but there really isn't any other side effects. I
haven't felt great for awhile but nothing really stands out. I do have
an irregular heart beat that may have gotten worse lately. I also took
the drug Aldactone (Spironalactone) for a while and am still on it. I
have taken it off and on for a period of time for hairloss. I take
breaks every so often to avoid side effects. I haven't had any bad
side effects that I know of. Can someone please give me there opinion
on what may be causing this red urine and why? I can't go to a doctor
for at least 3 more days and I am curious to know what it could be
that's causing this. I know it's probably blood but what is the most
likely cause of it? I will go to a doctor as soon as I can but I want
to learn as much as possible before then. Please help. Thanks in
advance for all your help.

You've posted this in a newsgroup concerned with prostate cancer, so the
first thing I should say is that prostate cancer in your case is so
unlikely it is not worth thinking about.  It is also rather unlikely
that it is any other dread disease.

Blood in the urine can be caused by a variety of conditions which range
in seriousness.   For example, a small blood vessel could have ruptured.
But there are so many possibilities that you really need to have it
evaluated by a physician.  I doubt if there is any risk in waiting
several days unless there is really quite a lot of blood present.  If
your urine is bright red, you should call your doctor and consider going
to an emergency room if he/she thinks it advisable.
