A month after radical prostate surgery my psa test was 1.0. A month later it
is .7. doctor said all of prostate was removed and in one piece. all tests
surrounding surgical area were negative, but prostate was greatly enlarged.
Gleason was level 5 and small amount of cancer cells were found in center of
prostate. We will be watching psa levels every 3 months, if level rises doc
suggests hormone treatment. I am 65...has anyone had similar symptoms?

Unfortunately there are too many men with similar symptoms and in the
same situation. Did your urologist explain your other options before
you had the surgery? Did your urologist explain to you the risks of
surgery? Anyone who has read Dr. Hennenfent's new book would have
avoided this situation.

One month after an RRP is too early for a meaningful PSA reading. My
uro at UCLA Medical Ctr says wait 3 months minimum. It should be below
0.1 after that given your statistics.

I had radical prostate surgery june 2002. for 2 years my PSA was 0.1.
My checkups were every 3 months after one year post then every 6 months
thereafter.
I just had an exam in Dec and PSA was 0.3 at 2 labs and 0.4 at the hospita
lab.
Although my uro was not concerned, he put me back on every 3 months (going
in March) and if
PSA rises again I am going in for a bone scan. I too, am concerned. I don't
have
Any aches or pains, feeling fine until I heard this news.
