Had PVP Wednesday, Feb 23, Portland, OR.  Only complication was
inability to urinate for first 12 hours after surgery.  Had to
catheterize x3. By 3 am the morning after, was urinating with burning.
Biggest problem so far is to get the bowel system working.  Probably the
result of the general anesthetic.  Have had a lot of lower belly gas
pains inspite of stool softeners and Metamucil.  Still no success in
that system.  No pain and taking no pain meds. On Bactrim DS (5 days)
and Pyridium (for 6 2/3 days). Last night I was up only x2 to urinate
and to take the next dose of Pyridium. Good stream with some frequency
and some urgency...lets you know not to put it off...Overall, I am very
pleased with the ease of this procedure. The urgency issues haven't
affected me at night, only during the day when drinking more liquid.
Can't wait to get over the recuperation and test out the system!!!   A
VERY BIG THANK YOU TO THOSE IN THE NEWSGROUP WHO HAVE BEEN WILLING TO
SHARE THEIR PVP EXPERIENCES ON THIS NEWSGROUP.  I am amazed at the kind
of information available on the internet.

Chockman,
I had abdominal pains & also had to be recatherized after my first PVP,
and had some bowel problems for at least a few days. I know you'll do fine.
Expect urinary urgencies that will improve with time. Be patient.
Ron
