How many of you using Uroxatral or Flomax get stuffy nose and low back
pain that you associate with these medications? How about tinnitis?

I take Flomax in the evening to try and dodge some of the side effects (by
sleeping through them) but wake in the night with blocked nose and a very
dry mouth. Also have noticed increased tiredness during the day.

I was on Flomax and did not notice anything that remarkable... but
since some folks have mentioned it, I did notice a dry mouth during
the night... for about a week last month... not sure if it was the
Flomax that did it, but it's possible.
Three days ago I took myself off Flomax. Not much change so far.

I also take before bed and have experienced dry mouth and stuffy nose -
which are causing me to awaken at night almost as much as the nocturia. Am
scheduled for PVP April 1, so expect to dump the Flomax then.....

Strange coincidence or not, I just started taking flomax (1 dose in
the evening) and last night I was almost asleep, tried to roll over in
bed, and could hardly even move, due to a sudden very dull pain that
covered my entire lower back. Almost like something was squeezing and
spasming all the back muscles. I've never had any back pains or
problems in my entire left before that. I managed to get out of bed
and slowly stretch, an then things were fine. And I had a very dry
mouth this morning, which is rare, since I run a humidifier all night
long, which is only about 5 feet from my head. Last night was only the
4th time that I've ever taken flomax, and it was the second
consecutive night of taking a pill.

Hi:
You are confirming to me that maybe my sore lower back is not all in my
head. I have had occasional sore lower back but that is usually
connected with lifting too heavy, working too hard, etc. Generally I
have not had sore lower back unless there is a physical reason for it.
I have decided to drop the Uroxatral for a while and see how I feel. I
will be curious whether you continue with the Flomax or what? Thanks
for sharing your experience.

Boy I am I glad I joined this group. I recently started having these
low back pains and they were very unusual for me also. I attributed the
dry mouth to my sinus problems and thought my sinuses were just getting
worse.
I am taking myself off from the Flomax and see if these symptons
improve. Got paid today so I went out and got some saw palmetto and soy
pills. See if they will help.

I want to report that I have been off the Uroxatral 4 days. The
backache and the tinnitis have nearly totally disappeared. It is a joy
to be able to breathe at night. I find myself much less tired, less
irritable and generally feeling better. I had been on the Uroxatral
since May except for a 5 week break in Sept. It will be interesting to
see how many of the bph symptoms return and how significant they will
be. Now I am trying to figure out whether I can live with my bph
symptoms without Uroxatral until by PVP scheduled for 2/23. So far, so
good....

Based on what you guys said I went off Flomax. Getting up a couple more
times a night but the backache etc are gone. I already have sinus problems
and Flowmax aggravated it. And Sudafed of course works against everything!!
All I got to do is hold off for two or three months. Went to the Dr. on
Wednesday. He said I was a good candidate for either PVP or Microwave.
Since I am not in an emergency situation he recommended trying the microwave
treatment. If that doesn't work I will go for the PVP. He said he has
about 80% success with microwave.

Hi Rich:
Just wanted to let you know that I had a TUMT Prostatron 2.5 July 2,
2004 but that it did not totally solve my problem. I am scheduled for
PVP on Feb 23. Would be glad to share details if you need information.

I was on Detrol LA and Flomax before my TURP. After taking the FLomax
for a few months, I had retrograde ejaculation (where the semen goes
into the bladder rather than out of the penis). The urologist said it
was due to Flomax, but he hadn't warned me of this. Course after the
TURP you have retrograde ejaculation, so I just got it a little earlier.
The retrograde was not gradual as far as I could tell, but happened
spontaneously. I'm in my late 70's so age may have something to do
with it.
