Well, I had my PVP surgery at about noon on Tuesday, spent the night in the
hospital, and came home yesterday morning after the catheter was removed and
I urinated four times to check the clarity, which improved immensely each
time.  The power of the urinary stream absolutely amazed me, so the
procedure had an immediate effect (especially on the wall behind the
toilet--have to recalibrate my aim now, I see. . . ).  So far, only minimal
bleeding at the beginning of the stream periodically, a little discomfort
from the irritation of the catheter, plus a few 'chunks' from time to time.
Also, I slept through the entire night last night without getting up once!
Having heard about other procedures (especially from my brother who wore a
catheter for 9 days after his TURP), so far I have only high recommendations
for PVP, and Dr. Lin was terrific--professional, caring, explanatory, all
the right things you'd want from a surgeon.

Now, please do understand that this is still no walk in the park.  Since I'm
on several meds for other ailments, my eating and dosing schedules in the
hospital were off, and sleep was nearly non-existent.  (And, of course,
after waiting for months for tree surgeons to clear damaged trees off our
property after the hurricanes, they showed up yesterday ten minutes after I
got home!  No rest for the weary, I guess.)  So I'm tired, still a good bit
groggy, achy, and expect to stay down for a few days.  In all, it could have
been so much worse, but I feel on the mend. I'll let you know more later.

Vince

Vince,
Best wishes for a new year of strong stream with no urinary problems post-
PVP.
