As I had to explain to my fist young assistant uro, surely he understood
that different individuals react differently to the same medication? I don't
think he had taken that into consideration.
In my case, proscar didn't reduce my desire, but, after a couple of months
it was taking me longer to raise and maintain an erection - fun with a
willing partner if you've got the time :-)
Any good medical site will give you a list of possible side-effects with any
medication, but remember that in most cases you will get none of them.

Tom,
The benefits of Proscar, as my uro explained, are (1) reduction of
risk of cancer and (2) shrinking of the prostate gland. The
medical study confirms that but also claims that there is a risk
of getting an "agressive" cancer (I am paraphrasing).
So I will want to decide whether it is worth accepting the loss of
libido and the resulting diminishing of my quality of life. My uro
tells me that saw palmeto is effectively a weaker form of Poscar.
So maybe just go back to saw palmeto?
