I am an old record (i.e. 78!). I've been aware of my prostate for about 20
years
My doc prescribed proscar(finasteride) about 2 ? years ago; then about a
year ago, we decided to add cardura(doxososin), based on a study (? UK - I
forget) which indicated positive synergy between the two. i.e. taking both
gives a better result than either singly.
Thus I've been taking both for over a year. Now, with fingers crossed, I
can report my 6th night when I only got up ONCE!
Previously for quite a while I had been in the 3-4 bracket. I'm hopeful and
reasonably optimistic that this happy state of affairs will continue -
conceivably attain 0 times per night. We'll see. I'm happy to hold off
surgery, whether TURP or PVP for as long as I can. Of course as J. M.
Keynes so accurately said, 'In a 100 years, we'll all be dead' - though in
my case I suppose the figure should be a bit lower . . . . .
While I'm at it, I'll add my recipe for suppressing the urge in the night.
It's simply heroic dose of aspirin!! Specifically when I was in the 3-4
times mode, I found that 6 regular aspirin (acetylsalysilic acid), would
suppress the urges to once or even 0. I'm not suggesting this for anybody
else. I just report my particular experience. I never had any ill effects
from the aspirin - after all 6 is half the recommended upper daily limit.
Cost of this amazing drug is approx ($6.50 for 500, at WalMart)
Best wishes to all

Adda boy, Rick... Yes there are many studies that support the synergy
between a DHT blocker such as Proscar and an Alpha Blocker such as Cardura.
Your doctor is correct. Best wishes to you.

Thanks for the info- I will keep that aspirin story on the back burner--you
sound good to me...
