Had the cystoscopy today, not a real big deal, all the worry was
in vain. Now I feel like I am peeing through razor blades, but that
too will pass. Soon, I hope.
Anyway, nothing all that exciting was found. A little bit of
stricture in the prosatate area, prostate about 45 or so.
Uro not real sure why I retain so much urine, I should be showing
some discomfort, bad flow, etc., but have none of those problems.
(400ml or so)
Anyway, suggested and put me on Uroxatrall to see how it goes. <g>
Any comments on this drug would be appreciated !
Thanks

Good drug! I was on Flomax and had to live with retro. I was put on
Xatrol only because I complained about dizziness and low energy with Flomax.
This was a lucky break for me. I discovered I had no retro with Xatrol.
So, I think it is much better than Flomax. But, this is just my opinion.
Glad the procedure was not too painful...Take some pain killers regularly
over the next few days to manage the pain before it sets in,... Aspirin or
the like. Best of luck to you.

Had the same experience as Spread with the side effects of Flomax vs.
Xatrol.

I am a 61 yr old who went into urinary crises after a nose exam by an
ENT specialist in May 2004. Symptoms included urgengcy, inability to
start urination or ability to empty the bladder. Internist put me on
Uroxatral 10 mg which seemed to get me past the crises. Had a TUMT July
2, and continued the Uroxatral post the TUMT. Still on the Uroxatral at
this time. Do not find any side effects that are troublesome, but am
concerned about long term use of the medication. Thus far, it has not
caused any sexual problems such as retro or inability to ejac which are
said to be side effects of Flomax and some of the other meds. Be glad
to answer any questions. Thanks. chockman@canby.com

Sounds like Uroxatral might be a good choice, then. How long will I
be on it before I am likely to notice any effects/improvement ? ?

Within 2 hours of taking it you will notice the meds start to slowly kick
in. Within 4 to 6 hours you ought to be whizzing rather well. Dizziness or
other side effects you may notice upon exertion such as climbing a steep set
of stairs. After a couple of months, you may have to titrate the dosage.
I started at one tab of 10 mg Xatrol and am now using 1.5 tabs, (approx 15
mg) and do notice that I am having more bad days than good. It's obvious
now, that I am just buying time till my surgeon confirms date of my
PVP....Good luck to you.
