I am 49 yo and I recently have been advised to have PVP laser surgery
for BPH. Since I am relatively young to have BPH that requires
surgery, and the fact that I don't yet have any children, I am
concerned about fertility after the surgery. I know retrograde
ejaculation is a possible side-effect of this surgery, and can affect
my fertility. How common is retrograde ejaculation, and if it occurs,
is it permanent?

I've also been told that if a man is affected by retrograde
ejaculation, then "harvesting" sperm from urine is a means to be used
to achieve conception. Does any one have any knowledge about how
successful this technique is?

Thanks.

Prostate BHp reducers per  Dr.Don Cherry

Ferrum Picricum

Saw Palmetto appear to work by partially blocking the conversion of
the male hormone testosterone to dihydrotestosterone.  The latter
seems to have something to do with prostate enlargement.

The prescription drug Proscar does the same thing.  Saw Palmetto seems
to have a milder effect and does not require a prescription.  It is
used in Europe more than in the USA.

It has worked well for me.  I take three 160 mg. tabs each night
before going to bed.  I still have symptoms, but they are less severe.
I buy my Saw Palmetto from an "organically-oriented" market chain here
in California called Trader Joe's.  Their brand of Saw Palmetto is
labelled "Trader Darwin".  It costs about $9.00 for a bottle of 100.

I am not promoting this product but am using it together with some other
supplements and after having suffered with BPH I have noticed an incredible
improvement.

OTHER CHANGES TO MAKE
- drink 6-8 glasses (1 gallon) of steam distilled water a day
- diet and nutrition are important for both healing and prevention
- eat lots of raw fruits and vegetables
- juice is good (make your own with a juice machine)
- whole grains are good to eat, raw nuts, and brown rice
- do not drink coffee, soda pop, other junk food drinks
- do not eat processed foods white sugar, white flour, etc...
- eat less dairy products like milk and related products
- use stress relief like going for walks with someone you like -or- listen
to calming music
- control anger ... it can be a BIG problem for people with cancer and maybe
even a root cause
- do not smoke and avoid second hand smoke
- onions and garlic are great against cancer
- the lycopenes in tomatoes are good to eat
- fasting a few days a month can be helpful
- PRAY ... it does help with all aspects of life and healing
I have been
taking Avodart and Flomax since last November, and according to a
sonogram measurement earlier this month, my prostate had shrunk by
one-quarter. Prescription and measurement were by Dr. Te of Cornell
Medical Center.

been using beta sitoserol for over a year together with androstenedione and
flaxseed oil and a change in diet, I stopped using diary. The results have
been excellent for me

Shrinking the prostate size:
Urtica dioica, an herbal extract of nettle root that has been used in
Germany for more than a decade to treat prostate enlargement, has been shown
to reduce symptoms by 86% after 3 months of use.
Pygeum has anti-edema effects that shrink the prostate gland significantly.
Recent studies show it also inhibits the proliferation of prostate cells, by
interfering with the activity of the enzyme kinase C that is needed by all
rapidly growing benign and malignant cells.

AVODART works by lowering the production of the male hormone that causes
your prostate to enlarge. Just as it took your prostate time to grow, it
also takes time for your prostate to shrink. AVODART begins to shrink your
prostate in 1 month with a continued gradual reduction in prostate size
throughout the first 2 years of treatment and will continue to hold your
prostate to a smaller size. If your prostate is smaller, it will put less
pressure on your urethra. AVODART should provide symptom improvement after 3
to 6 months, and your symptoms should continue to improve with prolonged
usage. By shrinking the prostate, AVODART arrests the disease process of
BPH. Studies have shown that treatment with AVODART for 2 years reduces the
risk of acute urinary retention and/or the risk of needing surgery for
benign prostatic hyperplasia. Not all prostate medicines have been shown to
reduce the risk of AUR and BPH-related surgery.

Historically, other substances have been used to improve the health and
function of the prostate gland. Nutrients such as Zinc, a mineral that is
absolutely essential for a healthy prostate; amino acids Alanine, Glycine
and Glutamic Acid; Ginseng; Pumpkin Seed Extract; essential oils, certain B
vitamins and Lycopene are all very important to promoting prostate health.
Herbal remedies
Herbal remedies that you can buy for an enlarged prostate include: saw
palmetto, beta sitosterol plant extracts, rye grass, and pygeum africanum
bark extract. These are sometimes heavily advertised, but there is little
scientific evidence that they work. Saw palmetto has some evidence that it
helps, but it is not conclusive. It may be worth a try if symptoms are mild.

Saw palmetto extract is the most popular natural remedy for treating BPH.
It works by inhibiting certain enzymes that can cause prostatic overgrowth
('hypertrophy'). It can be used in doses of 160mg twice daily.

Studies have shown a deficiency in isoflavones such as those found in red
clover may increase the risk of BPH. Other studies have shown isoflavones
may also help in the relief of the condition by promoting the actions of
androgens and estrogens.

Rye pollen has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. In addition
it may relax the muscles around the uretha and inhibit the growth of
prostrate cells.

Nettle root extract 120 mg twice-daily increase the flow of urine in men
with early BPH. It works particularly well with saw palmetto.

selenium 200mg
flax oil 2 tablesppon a day
zinc picolinte 200mg
