Hi,
I have an enlarged prostate with troublesome urinary symptoms, live in UK,
am hoping to visit USA next year on holiday and wondered if anyone had
experience of buying travel insurance with this problem? Any advice or
feedback would be very much appreciated. Thanks very much.

I once had an insurance company baulk when my wife made a claim on our
travel insurance because one of her teeth started to hurt her.  They claimed
it was a "Pre-existing condition and would not honor the claim.  It's long
story and it took a letter from the airline, and a Lawyer before they
decided to pay.  Bottom line, they do not pay if the reason for cancellation
was a pre-existing condition.  I'm sure they will sell you the insurance.
The problem will be getting them to honor it if you cancel because you need
to pee.

I use TSB travel insurance for our annual world wide policy ( we are both
Senior Citizens) and gave them a list of pre-existing conditions including
BPH without having any problem. You have to do it by phone, get the
Freephone number from any Lloyds/TSB branch as it is a LONG call. Mine took
about 40 minutes!

Anthony, just carry any meds you take for it with you (in prescription
bottles). Urgent care in the US
seems to accept anyone and the fees are not too high in most cities.
I don't worry about "pre-existing" conditions when I travel overseas.

Try TSB. BPH was no problem on my annual worldwide policy. You can only do
the policy by phone, fortunately it is an 0800 number as I timed my call at
34 minutes.

Sorry but all UK insurers require you to declare ALL conditions and all
visits to doctors etc

If you fail to advise them of health problems they can and will withdraw
your cover

If you tell them and your condition is under control and stable they will
cover you anyway
