PVP with Peyronie's

I had a consultation with a uro who uses PVP about a year ago, but did
not have the procedure at that time. I was told the next step was for
the Dr. to do a scope  exam to make sure I was a good candidate for
the PVP. He said one of the things that might disqualify me was scar
tissue.  I have since developed Peyonie's, which is caused by scar
tissue, but I wonder if the scar tissue that causes the Peyronie's is
in a location that would disqualify me for a PVP.  I suppose the only
way to know for sure is to go back and have the Dr. do the scope exam,
but I wonder if anyone in the group has had a similar problem, or
experience with this sort of thing.  Thanks for any help.

Don,

The scar tissue that forms in the penis to cause Peyronie's Disease is not
in or around the urethra.  It forms in what is called the tuncia albuginea,
which surrounds the erectile tissue of the penis, so the fibrous tissue is
much closer to the exterior of the penis than it is to the urethra.

I have Peyronie's and had a PVP 16 months ago.  The Peyronie's did not
interfere with the PVP, nor did the PVP affect the Peryonie's.  I would say
my degree of curvature is 30 degrees upward from the horizontal plane and 5
to 10 degrees left of the vertical plane at the base of the penis.  The
curvature has not changed since the PVP, although I now have retro, which
was somewhat expected because of the medial prostate growth into my bladder.

Hope this helps.

Jack,
Thanks for your reply.  That is the answer I was hoping for, because I
am going to have to do either a PVP or TURP pretty soon.  At least I
still have hope that I can do the PVP. I already have the retro most
of the time, although I hear that that is a side effect of the Proscar
I am on.
