After a TUMT (about 3 years ago), brought my BPH symptoms well within
livable range, my Uro says my prostate has grown to something like 170gms.
Except for a recent attack of prostatitis, the symptoms are quite tolerable
still, but it's obvious that something will need to be done again at some
point. (PSA's around 6.0, but I've had two 16-point biopsies in the past 3
years - both negative. Uro says there's no significant median lobe issue.
I've seen mixed reports here as to the effectiveness of Microwave or laser
procedures on very large prostates. Uro is suggesting (when the time comes)
a series of 2 PVPs, or TURP, or making me consider the need for an open
prostatectomy. As long as the the biopsies stay negative and the symptoms
are livable, I'm doing absolutely nothing...... but what do some of you
think of how to evaluate the options in view of a 170 gm prostate???

Gordon Muir in London has used PVP on larger prostates than that .......they
just take patience and a long time
Better to have it dealt with now ......no point allowing things to get worse
1 year on from PVP removal of 70gm median lobe prostate that caused me
enough grief while i suffered ........bliss after the PVP

The posters who used to contribute to this forum who have had PVP done by
Muir have only good to say
