The incidence of retrograde is often mentioned on this newsgroup without
much data to support the numbers quoted. Today I have finally found what I
believe is the only published reference. I believe this is the source of the
"27% incidence of retrograde with PVP."
In the British Journal of Urology, August 2003, Dr Te reports on the one
year results of the multiclinical study of 146 men undergoing PVP. (Note I
am one of the 146)
"After 1 year, among the 56 men who were potent before the [PVP] Procedure,
27% had retrograde ejaculation but none were impotent."
So, 15 of the 56 in the original 80W PVP study had retrograde one year after
PVP and 41 did not.
It is not that large of a sample size considering that by the end of 2004,
over 20,000 PVP would have been done. Certainly a much broader study is
needed to get a more accurate estimate for men considering PVP.

Its all a bit irelevant though
What would they rather have ........inability to pass urine
/retention/urgency etc or freedom from all that with a slight chance of
Retro
With TURP its more likely to be 100% have retro and a lot more besides

I agree with you. I would gladly take a 1 in 3 chance for retrograde in
exchange for major relief from BPH symptoms.
