I had a TUMT about 15 months ago. It was great after 3 months and
after 7 months the results began to deteriorate so that I decided to
have a PVP because of all the good things mentioned in this group. I
had the PVP over three months ago and have had no beneficial results.
Still have urgency and even had a couple of accidents. The urologist
did a cystoscopy a couple of weeks ago and says there is a clear
channel into the bladder but the tissue where the PVP was done looks
ragged and unhealed. He wondered if having a TUMT could be the problem
because that destroys some blood vessels in the prostate and it is the
blood which helps the healing. He said there is nothing written on
this in the literature so I am asking this group "How many of you had
PVP after a failed TUMT and how quickly did you heal after the
procedure and did you have many post-op problems?"

TUMT is not done in the UK as fas as I understand it tends to be a USA
proceedure and from what I have read  is not favoured by good urologists

I suspect it is indeed the reason why PVP has now failed .......personally i
am nothing but delighted with the results of PVP

I had a TUMT.  It did nothing for me.  It shouldn't have been done because I
had a large median lobe and TUMT can treat that condition.  Fortunately the
TUMT did no harm and seven months later I had a successful PVP.

I can see that if the microwave heating is deep enough it could destroy
tissue, making PVP less effective and harder to heal.
