John,
Have been taking Proscar for three years now: my prostate by
ultrasound measurement is now 20% smaller; my sex drive is 40% less,
and my hair is thicker; Used along with Uroxetal I have many fewer BPH
obstruction symptoms; my PSA is 50% of what it had been; Be prepared
that the effects of Proscar take about a year or so to take hold: this
is a "leap of faith" medicine in my book

Hi John,

I took Proscar for seven years in combination with Cardura because the
two drugs acting together are more effective than either one of them
acting alone. Previously, I had been on Hytrin. All of these medications
were beneficial for me -- reducing prostate size and increasing flow.
For some men, this is all they will ever require.

Eventually in my case, without warning, complete blockage occurred,
sending me to an ER for catheterization. I decided to have a TURP and
have recovered very nicely, thank you.
