Gentlemen:

Thought you would be interested in my progress since my PVP ON March
18, 2004. Well...so far I'm very glad that I had it. I think that I
have stablized and all things are better in the peeing department.  I
am not incontinent nor impotent. I have some urgency.  If I use a
viagra pill I can actually have decent sex.  This all was and is a
surprise.  I don't know what I expected but so far this has been good.
My Tucson physician (Dr. Dalkin) explained to me that the possibility
of being impotent or incontinent from a PVP was less than 1%.  So far
this has been true for me.

I have had one disappointment, however. For a very long time I have
had sleep problems.  I linked it to my BPH.  Because I had to get up
many times in the night....I sleep very poorly.  In the last couple of
years I needed a sleeping pill or two to get through the night.  As a
consequence I became very lethargic. Well, I had hoped that the PVP
would change this pattern.  So far it has not.  I got up 2 times last
night (that's an improvement) but still need a sleeping pill.  Perhaps
it will improve with time. Hope so.

I did make a mistake the other day.  Prescription sleeping pills are
expensive and addictive. So I tried on over the counter pill at
Walmart.  I tried Unisom.  There were others as well i.e. sominex,
sleep eze etc.  All of these had been off limits before the P.V.P.
because they do something with the prostate.  Well, I figured that now
that I'm post PVP I could take them.  Well I was wrong.  I had two
very difficult nights.  I had much urgency etc.  So I learned not to
do that.  I am back on the ambien and last night I had a decent night.

So that's it.  I have a little urgency but it's getting better. I'm
glad that I had the operation. It was easy, quick and effective.  I
recommend the Tucson physican.  He's a very good man.

Al,
I'm glad that you're overall happy with the PVP results.
Re: The sleep problem - A little meditation right before sleep might go a
long way. 5-10 minutes of staying with the breath and letting go of
EVERYTHING else. Try it for a few nights.  We carry so much!
