Greetings,
I have not posted for some time because of poor health and also the fact
that I had been refused a referral to Mr Muir with the hope of a PVP op. by
the urologist Mr Almond at HRI.
The present position is: my GP requested that the local PCT fund the op, of
which they refused, I appealed but have now been told that my GP can make a
referral to another urologist, all of which of these have been involved in
laser surgery but so far as I know, not the PVP laserscope op.
The urologists in question, Mr S Lloyd Leeds, Mr M Flannigan Bradford and Mr
N Oakley Sheffield, has anybody had any consultations with these
consultants?
I would appreciate any comments that anyone has.

So very very sorry to hear you are still being denied the basic right of a
referral to a teaching hospital and the chance of PVP done by Mr Muir
.......its a bl****y disgrace
Have you written to John Reid or Tony Blair via your MP to kick up stink
about this because you are supposed to be entitled to be treated at a London
Teaching Hospital .......thats what they are there for
Gosh even Canada has woken up to the cost savings of PVP along with the
efficacy
I am now nearly 1 yr post PVP and its great ..........only fly in the
ointment is the bl***dy muscle relaxant drugs beforehand have caused hiatus
hernia so now have that to contend with instead

Greetings,
Thanks for the reply Magna tried to check out the urologists but not much
info on site.
I have to wait now nambucca for my GP to refer me to his choice, it may turn
out OK, have to wait and see. Pleased you are Ok after your PVP, everybody
else seems to be OK as well, some with minor problems but you would get that
in any operation. Not too good about the hiatus hernia, can they do anything
with this?
Will inform you what happens next.
