Hello Everyone, I have been seeing my fiance for 6 months now. 2 years ago
he had prostate (non cancerous)removal surgery. This is my first experience
with this. He is able to get an erection, but it does not stay hard very
long, he has not tried viagara yet, or any other option. He said that before
his surgery he had no problems with erections at all, and it is my
understanding, through research, that he should have a better chance of
regaining that ability post surgery. We have only just gotten to that stage
of our relationship. I am just wondering what I can do to help support him
emotionally, and also help with the erection problem as well. He is afraid I
will leave him because of this, and while I can understand why he feels this
way, I plan to stay with him no matter what. So are there any other support
groups that may be of help to me, or any advice here? I have looked at many
websites and done a lot of research on the subject, but was hoping to find
something that would help the wife/fiance support her man through this. Any
advice greatly appreciated! K

Hi K, Your fiance is a lucky Dude to have you as a partner.
This group deals with those who have an enlarged, (swollen) Prostate. It
seems that I can't be more helpfull, but please continue to visit here
and keep us informed. jr

Thanks, I wasn't sure where to go. He is so concerned about it and I just
want to reassure him that I will help him work through it, I do appreciate
the answer! Koreena

Why has he not tried Viagra? The stuff works for me and most of my
old friends.
Maybe his urologist warned against it, but if not, it's worth a try.
In any event, keep your chin up and let us know how things work out.

I assume your fiance had a TURP op not PVP
The problems of erection and impotence after TURP are widely known but the
blasted doctors who perform the surgury do not bother to tell the poor
patients
Equally it could be your fiance has a mental phychological block and fears
that because of surgury he cannot maintain an erection
I had PVP 9 months ago and I have no problems whatever ........i ran like
hell from a bastard uro who claimed TURP had no side effects

Thanks all for the great advice! I do think he intends to try Viagra, but at
this point, we are having so much fun with foreplay (at least I am Ha Ha) we
haven't progressed to that point yet. I do know he has heard from a friend
of his that Viagra can cause a painful "permanent" erection, but I have done
some research on it, and it seems a very remote possibility. Again, thanks
for the help, I will let you know how it works out! K

There is an impotence newsgroup. However, not
all the services providing the newsgroup messages
carry it. You can find it on Google under the heading
Newsgroups as I recall. There is a whole range
of things that can be done to assist him having a functional
erection. Meds, creams, shots, and so on.
My provider dropped that newsgroup.

Hi, just surfing through and saw this thread.
The newsgroup you seek is alt.support.impotence.
Alternatively, if your newsreader doesn't support that group, the same folks
who started ASI also run a yahoo group at
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Alt-Support-Impotence-ASI/ which has
similar content and many cross-over posters.
A "sister" group exists at yahoo for partners of men experiencing ED,
whatever the origin: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/supportEDpartners/
Hope that's of help.
Sue
