I just got off the phone with Dr. Lin. He did a PVP on me on July 31, 2003.
I had a prostate that exceeded 150 grams.
Dr Lin asked if there is still blood in my urination. I explained that the
beginning of the stream is red or pink but it clears and runs yellow towards
the end. He told me that this is normal. He asked about the size of the
stream. I told him that it was still very good. He explained that the
stream size may fluctuate but is glad to hear that it is still good. He
told me that there is some danger of scare tissue forming that will slow the
stream down but that does not seem to be the case with me. He asked about
pain. I told him that the presence of gas or bowel movements causes me
discomfort and dull pain in the region of my prostate. He replied that this
is because you had a very large prostate and that the pain and burning that
I'm experiencing will go away in a couple of weeks. He asked me to call him
back in two weeks and to take Tylenol for the pain. I told him that I have
some Tylenol with codeine and asked if should take that. He said it is OK
to take that if I need to but do not take too many. He reminded me to
control my diet to keep my bowels loose to limit my discomfort. He asked if
I sometimes had an urgent need to urinate. When I told him that I do. He
said this is to be expected at this time but this will also clear up soon.
I'm looking forward to a complete recovery and the time when I will be pain
free. I'm still glad I made the trip from Virginia to Florida so Dr. Lin
could do the operation.
