A question about PVP...

Reading the data makes PVP look like a no brainer.

Yet around here (Denver area), the uros I've called
don't seem to acknowledge it.  Seems they would
be referring lots of pts to PVP.  Of course they
lose the TURP revenue.

And the lines at the PVP places don't seem that long.

Laserscopes stock does seem to be going up.

What don't I understand?  Seems like PVP & laserscopes
should be growing like mad.  Bill Hale

No doctor is going to recommend a procedure he doesn't do.  Many doctors
aren't willing to invest big $$ in new equipment if they feel what they
currently do is just fine.  The PVP procedure is growing rapidly but if have
read this newsgroup for a while, some have not had the tremendous benefit
that others have enjoyed.  According to the Laserscope website, there are 3
Denver doctors doing PVP, all at the Denver Urology Clinic.

But, of course, that is true of any procedure.  The important thing
for me was, in contrast to other options, almost no one reported
serious side effects of having the PVP.  The same was not true of
TURP.
