It is sad that postings are not screened from people with personal
and/or political problems that do not apply to this group.
Is there no way the sci group sponsors can do this?

Hi John,
Glad to hear from you.
When a support group gets over a critical size, unfortunately, it attracts
all kind of low lifes who like to argue and insult others anonyminously on
any subject. They have the graffiti mentality. They know that they can't be
identified and relish in this basset activity. It is the same crowd which
scribbles on toilet stalls. You can't change this, it is genetic.
Anyway I hope you are doing fine.

John:
Yes --- groups can opt to become moderated groups. There is a procedure for
doing it (I think it is not easy --- and it shouldn't be).
Of course, you then get into censorship issues.
Personally, I think this group is fine the way it is. We seem to have a very
good information/noise ratio. I have found the folks here to be supportive
and helpful in answering questions.
MANY other groups are FAR WORSE in terms of idiots, hucksters, political
agendas, etc.
