Gentlemen:

Quick update.  I had a PVP on March 18 and had a catheter in until
March 21. So far I'm just about the same.  Still have to get up at
night to pee (3 times last night) and I'm not sleeping much better.
Doctor says I must be patient and not to expect a whole lot for some
time.  So I am waiting. On the positive side...I'm not taking Flomax
anymore.  That's good. My overall wellness hasn't improved a whole lot
but yesterday did seem better. My libido is slowly returning.  That
should be interesting.

Gentlemen:

It has now been 11 days since my PVP.  Don't know what to think.  Not
much difference in my sleep patterns from pre PVP days.  Have to take
sleep medication to get to sleep and stay there.  Still awaken 3 plus
times to pee. Still not getting a good night's sleep but I haven't for
years. I've quit taking Flomax and my brain seems more alert than when
I used it. Hope so. My doctor doesn't want to even see me for another
week and one half.  So to summarize....I really don't know if I am any
better....except that it's behind me. I've been told it will get
better.  Surely hope so.

Allen,

Be patient, it took me at least a month before I started to see
improvement and at least 3-4 months until my bladder started
to return to its original elasticity.  Also, my uro advised me to
take ibuprofen (or any other anti-inflammaatory) for relief during
the recovery period.  Again, please be patient, your urethral
passage was totally destroyed and needs time to regenerate.

Lewis.

Allen:

Could your sleep medication be causing some of the problems?

My PVP was 9 days ago, and so far I feel as uncertain as Allen about the
results.  The procedure really was a "walk in the park," I was home
before lunch on the day, with no pain except the catheter, which was out
the next day.  No pain afterward either, just minor burning the first
two days.  The only advantage so far is being off Flomax, and for that
alone it's worthwhile; but the flow is quite modest at best.  I
experience more urgency, and only void about 100 ml/pee.  If I wait
until the urgency is extreme this goes up to about 200ml, but at that
point there's great danger of wetting my pants, which happened once,
when I couldn't get home soon enough from my morning walk.  I'm forced
to be more aware now than before PVP of where the nearest bathroom is!
I continue to hope...
